Nissan LEAF Commercial Imagine A World Where Everything Runs On Gas, by Windsor Nissan NJ Video

This funny new commercial for the Nissan Leaf asks the viewer to imagine a world where everything ran on gas. The resulting gasoline-powered toothbrush, walkman and dentist drill may seem awesome, we can see why it might also be rather problematic. By the way, who still uses a walkman?

While the commercial's humorous, it's also interesting to note Nissan's decision to take a swipe at the Chevy Volt. While obviously it makes sense given the Volt is probably being cross-shopped versus the Leaf, I also think this means marketers believe that the Volt has replaced the Toyota Prius as the new green car to beat.

I guess it is a good thing that the Maguire Auto Group in New Jersey represents both brands, Windsor Nissan in East Windsor, NJ & Bob Maguire Chevrolet in Bordentown, NJ!!!!

yeah? but i said " ...
yeah? but i said "mostly from burning fossil fuels" MOSTLY

it depends,? from ...
it depends,? from water, wind mills, stuff that should be obvious and then you would store it in a battery or somthing

It can but not many ...
It can but not many people get energy from renewable resources. When it came out they advertised it as a zero emission car, which it isn't, the emissions are just coming out the stack of a? coal power plant instead of the tail pipe.

yes?
yes?

not quite?
not quite?

how do? you get ...
how do? you get electricity? mostly from burning fossil fuels

The Leaf can still ...
The Leaf can still use electricity from renewable sources,? though...

LIARS, the ...
LIARS, the electricity that is used to power these cars comes from COAL power plants (in US). They? should make a video about how the leaf is powered by a steam turbine.

?????????cm???????

everything does run ...
everything does run on gas. "Most electricity is generated by rotating turbines that drive alternators. Turbines are typically driven by water, wind, hot gases, and most commonly steam, which comes from water? boiled by gas stoves."

watch?v=PZyvjXHlBvA ...
watch?v=PZyvjXHlBvA : Nissan leaf zero emission. Solar Industry Grows 66% last year, and will double this year. It is expected that electric cars will be 10% of cars in 2020, Today, the electric? is less than 1% of the total.

New government epa ...
New government epa tests reveal that the electricity that? the LEAF uses has the same pollution as a 19 MPG SUV. And that is what the new window stickers will say 19 MPG pollution equiv.

Are converging to ...
Are converging to an energy solution cheaper than fossil, either by sunlight or by chemical, planning? is done by looking to the future.

Wow? great ...
Wow? great commercial. That electricity in the Leaf just comes from the magic fairies that live behind the power outlet in the wall and generate all of this completely clean fuel! Cool! shhh don't tell the people that 45% of US electricity comes from that dirty coal stuff and 25% from natural gas. It will be our little secret.

I take exception to ...
I take exception to you calling me an idiot. I am glad you are doing your part for the environment and I believe one day we will find ways to balance our consumption of energy... I don't think the leaf is helping other than making people feel good about themselves? but I do think its a positive step. If everyone could live in a geothermal efficient greenhouse like yours that would be great but its not possible at this time. You sir are the troll because your doing the name calling

You idiot! My house ...
You idiot! My house is a major contributor to energy, It is heavily insulated using recycled materials and it provides ~ 6kWh more energy than it uses per day, 390kWh more per year. From Spring to late Autumn I get 250lt of free hot water and its geothermal cooled. I dug that myself with a shovel. It's cost me $10k and I have to no bills - none. NADA! Go and reread Dr? Seuss you troll.

I like that they ...
I like that they make the claim that, "It's electricity! It must have no emissions!" If it's made at? the power plant, out of sight, out of mind, it doesn't exist.

...gaspunk??
...gaspunk??

Go ahead, give ...
Go ahead, give your? money to foreign countries, just don't wonder why you can't get a job.

That's a kick in ...
That's a kick in the? nuts right there to the Chevy Volt. 0:45

steampunk? b***hes!
steampunk? b***hes!

People who realise ...
People who realise that? a battery has a lifespan.

NIKOLA TESLA SAVED ...
NIKOLA TESLA SAVED US FROM THIS HELLISH NIGHTMARE!?

Wow! the Chevy Volt ...
Wow! the Chevy Volt bit was nice. Stuck at the? gas station.

Just as I thought. ...
Just as I thought. Someone is trying to have a battle of wits, even though they? are unarmed. Have a nice day sir.

Everything is made ...
Everything is made somewhere, out of something. Then one day it is done being used. This is a silly round-and-round. It still doesn't matter to me what coal plants do elsewhere because I don't get my electricity from burning anything. And electric? companies generate more electricity than we use -- pumping the water for those plants comes from that pool of spare electricity. No "extra" burning is done to clean the filters.

Who throws away? ...
Who throws away? batteries? What world are you talking about?

Battery disposal, ...
Battery disposal, lubrication, tires, washer fluid, glass replacement, shocks, struts, wheels... All petroleum based products... If you wanted to save fuel you should have bought a bike. If the coal smoke is filtered where are? these filters made? How much contaminated water is produced to clean the filters, How much energy is consumed in petroleum to pump that water? I understand if you have a concern for the world and props for taking the first step but your fooling yourself.

Whatever. I work in ...
Whatever. I work in the alternative energy field., All those components are made and distributed as well. Perhaps you should study up on how those solar panels you mention are made. Plus the chemical waste that car uses? for a battery that is thrown away ever 5 years. I think YOU are the one that needs to do a bit more reading and look at the big picture. Enjoy your delusions!

I find that ...
I find that definition stilted. Yes, infrastructure of everything has petroleum in its upkeep, because other vehicles use gas, oil and diesel. You? make it sound like it's an equal amount for electric devices and gasoline devices, and it isn't. Furthermore, even electricity generated from coal can be filtered all at one place, instead of trying to keep a million combustion engines burning cleanly and efficiently, which is well-nigh impossible.
